HISTORY

The Independence Technology Center was originally developed in 1957 as the Republic Steel Research Center. The building was conceived as the "state of the art" center for steel research at the time. Cumberland Development acquired the property in 2002 and has since rehabilitated the old Republic Steel factory and offices in to mixed-use commercial space for office space, laboratory space, data centers, and research facilities.​
